ArtFest

Description

What is ArtFest?

ArtFest is a fun afternoon during the school day where students explore different mediums of art and sell their own original creations!  Booths with art projects, face painting, and more, are set up behind the school and each grade has a few hours to explore the various booths.

2024 Event: Monday, May 20, 2024

Location: Mohawk Playground

  • Rain plan: Mohawk Gym

How can I help?

  • Volunteer: We have spots to help the entire date from set up to tear down, or you can volunteer an hour working a shift at a booth.
  • Help with supplies: It takes a village to make Art Fest special. We have slots to help share your tables, tents, folding chairs, spare art supplies and more!

Can I go to ArtFest?

You can come to Art Fest only if you volunteer. Art Fest is an event that takes place during the school day on school property. Once your shift is complete, you should not hang-out with your child on school property. There are many volunteer shifts available and if you would like to hang out for the entire Art Fest we have plenty of spots from easy to more hands-on. For example, you can work a booth shift and then rotate to hand out popsicles.

How can I prepare my student?

It is recommended that students wear sunscreen and clothes that they do not mind getting stained or messy.  Students should also bring a paper grocery bag with their name and teacher's name written on it to collect their creations and purchases. They may bring $10 or less to purchase creations made by other students.

Art Sale Information:

During Art Fest, students can actually sell their own art creations. Slime, bracelet, wind chimes, you name it - as long as it is not food or candy, it's up for sale. Students are welcome to create art to be sold during Art Fest. Please make follow these guidelines:

  • Students can submit up to 20 items to be in the sale. Any items over 20 will be sent back home.
  • The selling Student must fill out and turn in the Student Art Sale Info Sheet found below when turning in their items.
  • Selling price options are $1, $2 or $3.
  • Items may not include food, drink or candy.
  • Items must be made by a student.
  • Every item must be tagged with a removable tag that includes the student’s name, grade, teacher and price of item. Labels can be taped or tied on, but should be able to be easily removed without damaging the item or the label. When an item is sold, the tag is removed by the volunteer and used to know how much money is owed to the student. Students who do not properly tag their sale items run the risk of not receiving the money from their items. We will be checking tags on the morning we are collecting items and may send improperly tagged items back home to be redone.
  • Students will receive the money they earned and/or items that did not sell later in the week, not the day of Art Fest.
