Volunteer

All Volunteers, including grandparents, MUST complete a background check before volunteering at Mohawk. This includes any chaperones for field trips, attendees of classroom parties, and even volunteers are PTA or school related events outside of school hours. A background check is required by the district and the application process is simple.

RISD is introducing a new Volunteer Management System (VMS) — Verkada, a user-friendly platform designed to make it easier than ever for families, community members, and partners to get involved in our schools. Verkada is a system the district has already been using for visitor management and will replace VOLY for all campus and district volunteer management.

The volunteer application for the 2026-2027 school year will open July 20, 2026. 

If you are interested in volunteering at Mohawk there are many ways for you to get involved and help our school! If you have a specific PTA event you are interested in, please check the Mohawk PTA Board Member list for direct contact information to chairs and board members.

Don't forget to record your Volunteer Hours by clicking Record Your Hours under the Volunteer menu. Recording your hours helps our PTA maintain federal tax exemption status and also keeps us eligible for monetary awards from the district and state for fundraising purposes.
